East Melbourne Residential Garden
Private Client

John Patrick Landscape Architects were engaged to design a garden space in East Melbourne.  The brief was to create a series of connections through the garden to a sitting area and pool.

A muted materials palette, consisting of warm tones of aged brick create a strong border, which links individual pathways and terraces. Muted tones of light and dark grey pavers are used separately and in conjunction with one another to create a striking checkerboard pattern that becomes the central focus of the garden.

Designed to be looked on from above, the strong geometric pattern is softened by perennials and ornamental grasses that capture the light and provides a sense of movement to the space.
